An ode for National Bee Day

Did you see them?
Were they there?
Among the buttercups?
Or elsewhere?

Did you see them?
Were they there?
In the forests?
Then off in the air?

Did you see them?
In the strawberries?
Gathering pollen,
A fleeting glimpse – just there!

Did you see them?
They were there!
The little bees!
Spreading their fare.

T’was National Bee Day
Didn’t you know?
Yes! Just yesterday
Though no wind did blow

– that was the busy workers
There! On that hedgerow!
Buzzing. So we shall eat
And enjoy our tomorrow

Did you see them?
They were there!
Bye, bye vital fellas!
God’s speed – do take care!
